The International Forum on "Besides the Water: Waters Culture and Environmental Development"

Origin

The Taoyuan irrigation system is a key cultural landscape and socio-ecological continuous. As the foundation of regional development, it has shaped a unique local water culture. This international symposium aims to establish an interdisciplinary dialogue platform**, exploring, through rigorous academic discussions and case studies, how to utilize design intervention and environmental planning strategies to redevelop this hydrological network, achieving a sustainable local environment where water culture and the environment coexist.

Chun Yuan Christian University, adhering to the academic practice spirit of University Social Responsibility (USR), has long been deeply involved in the local hydrological context of Taoyuan, integrating diverse resources and expertise to promote the effective connection between knowledge production and local practice.

This symposium cordially invites scholars, planning and design professionals, and policymakers from home and abroad to jointly discuss the resilient reconstruction of hydrological landscapes and the sustainable revitalization mechanisms of cultural heritage, thereby deepening the theoretical discussion of "flow and connection" and providing innovative strategies for constructing a highly sustainable water culture environment.
